Every third Saturday in April is Record Store Day: Independent record stores all over the world, including Berlin’s vinyl and indie music specialists, open their doors to celebrate.

Record Store Day was brought into being in 2007 to draw attention to independent record stores in the US and the unique culture associated with them. The idea has since spread to Europe, Asia and Australia. Today, more than 3,000 record stores worldwide participate, about 20 of them in Berlin. The participating stores not only offer their records for sale, they also host in-store gigs, parties and club events. Limited editions of exclusive Record Store Day releases make for great collectibles.
